How far does Christian liberty go? Some would say only as far as the Lord let's it and others say it's almost infinite. I ask this because many professing Christians I know are indistinguishable from the world. They have filthy mouths, watch filthy movies, laugh at and forward filthy jokes, and the list goes on and on. They say it's grace they live under and they need not worry about such legalistic behavior guidelines that would alienate them from the world they so much love. The Apostle Paul says that we have liberty in all things, though not all things are profittable. The Lord Jesus says that if you love Him, you will keep His commandments. Jesus also makes it very clear that not all who say Lord, Lord......(Matthew ch. 7) will enter in, but He will say to them "depart from Me you workers of lawlessness". Paul also tells us that the love of the world is enmity with God. Also, he asks does living under grace give us freedom to sin? God forbid!
So I ask, where is the line? Is the grace of Almighty God able to cover this person who claims to be a believer, but yet his heart is wholly consumed with the lust and desires of this world and is madly in love still with sin? Or will he hear the words "Depart from Me"? I lean towards the latter, but for the majority of Americans who "claim" to be Christians I pray that grace will extend that far and beyond. But I have to ask, what fellowship does darkness have with light? How can you say you love Jesus, and willfully bring shame to His name? Out of the same mouth you praise Him with on Sunday, you blaspheme the name of God on Monday? Where is your regenerated spirit o' saved by grace christian? Is the "new" man in Christ no different than the "old"? There's never any repentance, just the desire to continue in your worldly ways. Jesus said the servant is no greater than the master. If He was persecuted, surely we will be too. But you, o' saved man of the world, have many friends and drinking buddies to party with don't you? You're liked by all, because you are just like them all. Would you still be so well received if you were to witness the gospel of Jesus to them? A carnal christian, can there really even be such a thing? Who among you can serve 2 masters? 1 Peter 4:18 “ If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” ...................Just something to think about.
